Acids, Bases and salts important note||class 10 science lesson 2 important notes

Acids: The compounds which contains one or more hydrogen atoms and when dissolved in water produce hydronium ions (H3O+).  Acids are classified as organic and inorganic acids on the basis of their sources.  Acids are classified as strong and weak acids on the basis of their strength.  Base is either a metallic oxide or a metallic hydroxide which reacts with hydronium ions of an acid to form salt and water only.  An alkali is a base soluble in water.  The pH of water is 7.Hence it is neutral.  An acidic solution has a pH less than 7 and  a basic solution has a pH more than 7. Acidic and basic solution in water conduct electricity because they furnish hydrogen and hydroxide ions respectively.  Common salt (NaCl) is an important raw materials for various chemicals like sodium hydroxide, baking soda, washing soda, bleaching power, etc.  Salts have various uses in everyday life and in various industries.  Washing soda (Na2Co3.10H2O).  *u...

Components of environment||write a short of biotic components

BIOTIC COMPONENTS Definition biotic components? an ecosystem is made up of two primary components- Abiotic Components and Biotic Components. Biotic factors or components are living components that shape the ecosystem and have an effect on the organisms within it. Thus an ecosystem includes biotic factors like plants, animals and microorganisms, and abiotic factors like water, land and air. Producers: They depends on other plants for their food requirements. Green plants are producers. Scavenger: These dead animal eaters are called scavenger.e.g. hyena, vulture, etc. Decomposers: The microorganisms which feed on the deed bodies of plants and animals decompose them into simpler substances are called Decomposers. e.g.bacteria and fungi. Recycling of nutrients: The nutrients released from dead bodies by the action of scavenger and Decomposers, get mixed with the soil and are again absorbed by the plants. This process is called recycling of nutrients. Consumers: Organisms wh...

Class 10 science lesson 1 chemical reactions and Equations notes

1.Chemical reaction and Equation Chemical Reactions:  A chemical reaction happens when one or more chemicals are changed into one or more other chemical. Chemical Equation: The method of representing a chemical reaction with the help of symbols and formulae of the substances involved in it, is known as Chemical Equation. Balancing of an Equation: The process of making the number of atoms of each element equal on both the sides of an Equation is called balancing of an equation. H2+Cl2--------2HCl COMBINATION REACTION: A chemical reaction in which two or more substances combine to form a single substances is called a combination reaction. C2+O2-------CO2 Decomposition Reaction: A reaction in which a substances break down into two or more substances is called decomposition reaction. 2NaCl-----------2Na+Cl2 Displacement Reaction: A chemical reaction in which a more reactive metals displaces a less reactive metal from its salt solution is called Displacement reaction. Zn+CuSO4---...
