Life processes
Life processes are the vital processes carried out by living organisms in order to maintain and sustain life.
The molecular movement are essential to carry out the various life processes such as nutrition, respiration, excretion, growth and repair and reproduction.
Nutrition
This energy is obtained from carbon-based food source through the process called nutrition.
AUTOGRAPH:plants prepared their own food. That is why plants are called autotrophs. This mode of nutrition is called autotrophic nutrition.
HETEROTROPHS:Animal and Non-green plants depend directly or indirectly on green plants for their food. This method of nutrition is called heterotrophic.
Photosynthesis
*The process of synthesis of glucose with the help of carbon dioxide and water in the presence of sunlight.
*The process of synthesis of food by green plants is called photosynthesis.
The green leaves contains a pigment called Chlorophyll.
A cross section of a leaf under microscope shows green dots like cell organelles called as chloroplasts.
Leaves have tiny pores called stomata.
Growth
Growth means increase in size of an organisms.
Human alimentary canal is a long tube extending from mouth to anus.
The alimentary canal is made up of various organs and glands.
It carries out following function:
1) Ingestion of food.
2) Digestion of food.
3) Assimilation of food.
4) Egestion of waste products.
Respiration:Respiration is the breaking down of nutrients to release energy.
Respiration occurs by following two ways:
1) Aerobic respiration:It occurs in presence of oxygen.
2) Anaerobic respiration:It occurs in absence of oxygen.
Blood is a fluid connective tissue which is made up of two parts. These are
1) plasma is the liquid part of the blood containing mostly water, dissolved salts and gases.
2) Blood corpuscles float in the plasma.
Xylem:
They xylem contains dead cells.
It helps in conduction of water and minerals from root to the leaves.
Phloem:
Phloem contains living cells.
It helps in conduction of food prepared by the leaves to various parts of the plant.
